Norbert Clemens Baumgart

Norbert Clemens Baumgart (born May 22, 1959 in Bad Doberan ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian , clergyman and university professor .

Life

After completing his Abitur at the Norbertinum (Magdeburg) , he studied philosophy and theology at the Erfurt seminary and in Neuzelle from 1979 to 1984 . After he was ordained priest in 1985, his chaplain years took him to Neubrandenburg . From 1988 to 1994 he was an assistant at the theological faculty in Erfurt in the subject of Exegesis of the Old Testament. He obtained his licentiate at the Gregoriana in 1991 and his doctorate in exegesis of the Old Testament in 1994 . In Münster he was a DFG scholarship holder from 1994 to 1998 and completed his habilitation there. Teaching activities in Erfurt , Münster, Flensburg and a visiting professorship in Paderborn followed . He was appointed adjunct professor at the University of Lüneburg in 2004 and has been Professor of Exegesis and Theology of the Old Testament at the University of Erfurt since 2008 .
