Career

When SV TuRa Leipzig was founded in 1932, the 20-year-old Brembach was a defender in the first team. With the reorganization of the soccer classes in 1933, he first played in the third-class Leipzig district class, one year later moved to the Leipzig district class and in 1936 to the Gauliga Sachsen , one of initially 16, later increased to 23 Gauligen at the time of National Socialism as the uniform highest division in German Rich , on. In the third Gauliga year he was part of the club's regular squad as a left defender with 14 out of 18 matches played. On the penultimate day of the match he was suspended for two years "for violating the spirit of Tura camaraderie" . However, the ban was lifted after three months. At times Brembach was the team captain.

After the end of the Second World War, the club, renamed TuRa 1899 Leipzig since November 14, 1938 , like all sports clubs in the Soviet occupation zone , was finally dissolved. For a while, sports continued to be played in various provisional sports clubs in Leipzig until a new sporting focus was established on March 21, 1949 with the ZSG Industrie Leipzig . The now 36-year-old Werner Brembach also joined the newly formed football section, but he was no longer used in the subsequent games for the Eastern Zone Championship. In the 1949/50 season , the ZSG was one of the founding teams of the upper league of the German Sports Committee as the highest East German league. Brembach played all 26 point games, usually as a left defender. The 1950/51 season began under the new name BSG Chemie Leipzig and was GDR champions at the end of the season, after the tied BSG Turbine Erfurt was defeated 2-0 in the decider on May 20, 1951 . Brembach was involved in this success with 32 appearances from 34 played point games. He then retired from competitive sports, but at the age of 39 he helped out again in the league team in October 1951.
