Werner Früh

Werner Früh (* 1947 ) is a German communication and media scientist .

Scientific career

After graduating from high school, Früh studied journalism , sociology , German and cultural studies at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz . Also in Mainz , he did his doctorate in 1978 with an investigation into the connection between text design and text effect .

As early as 1976, Werner Früh worked as head of the department for text and media analysis at what was then the Center for Surveys, Methods and Analyzes (ZUMA) in Mannheim . In the early 1980s, he and Klaus Schönbach developed the dynamic, transactional model of media impact research .

In 1987, Früh was appointed to the professorship for applied media research at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . From 1994 to 2013 he was professor for empirical communication and media research at the Institute for Communication and Media Studies at the University of Leipzig .
