Werner Fromm

Werner Fromm (born April 9, 1905 in Husum , † May 10, 1981 in Bielefeld ) was a German SS-Oberführer and Colonel of the Police as well as SS and Police Leader (SSPF).

Life

Fromm, a bank clerk by profession, was a member of the NSDAP ( membership number 753.170) and SS (SS number 17.080) from 1931 . From the early 1930s he was a full-time SS leader, including commander of the 60th SS standard based in Insterburg . After he had been employed by a communications unit from late 1939 to November 1940, he was employed by the HSSPF " Ostland " from September 1941 to December 1941. There he was assigned to Einsatzkommando 2 in Latvia . He then worked for the staff of the HSSPF "Russland-Süd" until January 1942. From mid-January 1942 to the end of January 1943 he was SSPF " Bialystok " and then until the end of April 1944 police area leader " Sarajevo ". Towards the end of the war he was transferred to the Waffen SS and served in the 16th SS Panzer Grenadier Division "Reichsführer SS" .

After the war he worked as a merchant. Investigations initiated by the Hamburg public prosecutor were closed in 1974. Fromm died in May 1981.
