Werner Hildenbrand 1973

Werner Hildenbrand (born May 25, 1936 in Göttingen ) is a German mathematician and an internationally renowned economic theorist.

life and work

Hildenbrand studied mathematics and physics at the University of Heidelberg , where he also received his doctorate in 1964 and qualified as a professor in 1968 in the field of mathematical economic theory .

From 1969 until his retirement in 2001 he was Professor of Economics at the University of Bonn and several visiting professor at the University of California, Berkeley . Hildenbrand received international recognition through his contributions to general equilibrium theory . To this end, he has written several books and published numerous articles in leading journals. From 1985 to 1999 Hildenbrand was the spokesman for the Collaborative Research Center (SFB) 303: "Information and the coordination of economic activities"

In 1974 he founded the Journal of Mathematical Economics .
