Werner Hipelius

Werner Hipelius (born April 5, 1947 in Bamberg ) is a German local politician of the CSU and was mayor of the city of Bamberg from 2001 to 2014 and thus deputy mayor.

Life

Hipelius attended the Rupprechtschule, the Oberrealschule and the Dientzenhofer Gymnasium in Bamberg. He passed the employment examination for the higher service as a graduate in administration and was employed until 2001, most recently as head of department, at the Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg .

Hipelius was a member of Bamberg's city council from 1972 to 2014. From January 31, 2001 to April 30, 2014 Hipelius was mayor and thus representative of the mayor of Bamberg. He acted as a cultural, school and sports advisor and was responsible for the ETA Hoffmann Theater , the city museums, the adult education center, the music school and the city archive. Christian Lange (CSU) was elected by the city council on May 7, 2014 as his successor .

Hipelius is married and has two children.
