Werner Hodel

Werner Hodel (* 1951 ) is a German game designer . His game Mississippi Queen was named Game of the Year in 1997 .

Hodel now lives with his wife and daughter in Baden-Württemberg and taught there at a grammar school in Crailsheim until his retirement in 2014. Until 1987 Hodel published some games in its own small publisher Edition Malibu.

With his racing game Mississippi Queen he reached 1995 in the competition for game designers of the "Hippodice Spieleclub e. V. “3rd place. Two years later, the game appeared at Rio Grande Games and Goldsieber as the first publication in a major publisher. It was game of the year 1997 and with Mississippi Queen: The Black Rose he published a supplement the following year.
