Werner Köhler (born March 21, 1920 ): A former German football player who played in the years 1951 and 1952 with BSG Motor Gera in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of GDR football .

Athletic career

At the age of 31, Werner Koehler made his debut in the league on December 9, 1951 in the encounter on the 16th match day SV Vorwärts Leipzig - Motor Gera (3: 3) as a substitute in the 78th minute for striker Harry Frey . After that, Köhler was only called up again when the center forward Horst was out for several weeks on Friday from matchday 24. Initially used as a left winger, Koehler mostly played as a left runner . When he was a striker in the game Motor Oberschöneweide 2-1, Köhler shot his only top division goal . He finished the 1951/52 season with 14 missions. In the season 1952/53 Werner Koehler belonged further to the upper league squad of Gera and played nine league games up to the 14th matchday, in which he was mainly used as a left defender. This encounter on November 30, 1952 was his last game for Motor Gera, even later he did not appear in the higher-class leagues.
