Werner Kempe

Werner Kempe (born July 6, 1928 in Dresden ) is a former German diplomat . He was the GDR's ambassador to the Yemeni Arab Republic (Northern Yemen).

Life

Kempe was an administrative employee, in 1959 he headed the Internal Affairs Department at the Dresden City Council. From 1962 to 1966 he studied foreign policy at the German Academy for Political Science and Law in Potsdam . He completed his studies with a degree in political science.

Since then he has worked for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the GDR . From 1970 to 1973 he worked as the acting head of the GDR trade agency in Kuwait , from 1973 to 1976 as the third secretary of the GDR embassy in Tehran . From 1976 to 1978 he was head of the consulate in Alexandria and from February 1980 to April 1983 finally ambassador to Sanaa .

Kempe was a member of the SED .
