Werner Kempkens (born November 3, 1969 in Krefeld ) is a former German soccer player .

career

Kempkens went through the youth department of Bayer 05 Uerdingen and became German junior champion in 1987 with Ansgar Brinkmann and Marcel Witeczek's A-class with a 2-1 final win against Eintracht Frankfurt . The young defender moved up to the Uerdingen first division squad and played a total of 26 Bundesliga games from 1989 to 1991 . After relegation to the Bundesliga in the 1990/91 season , Kempkens moved to local rivals Preussen Krefeld , who had just been promoted to the Oberliga Nordrhein . From 1994 to 1996 Werner Kempkens played for 1. FC Bocholt in the third-class Regionalliga West / Südwest , from where the outgoing coach Franz-Josef Tenhagen took him to the league competitor SG Wattenscheid 09 in 1996 . With the 09ern , the defensive man was 1996/97 champion of the regional league and rose to the 2nd Bundesliga . In the second division Kempkens came from 1997 to 1999 on 60 missions without scoring. After relegation in 1999 he played for Wattenscheid in the regional league until 2001. This was followed by further engagements in the Oberliga Nordrhein at SSVg Velbert and Schwarz-Weiß Essen .

After the end of his active career, Kempkens became a youth coach at TSV Krefeld-Bockum . In January 2008 he took over the head coach of the club's first team and also looked after them in the Lower Rhine regional league the following season .
