Werner Kirstein (geographer)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Werner Kirstein (born October 1, 1946 in Niederkrüchten ) is a German geographer and professor emeritus. He became known in particular for his public denial of man-made global warming .

Live and act

Kirstein studied geography and physics at the University of Würzburg from 1972 to 1977 . He received his doctorate in 1981 and then worked at Forschungszentrum Jülich . In 1992 he acquired the license to teach at universities with a habilitation thesis . In 1997 he became professor for geography and geoinformatics at the University of Leipzig .

In 2010/2011 he was the supervisor of a doctoral thesis submitted by Michael Limburg , the vice president of the climate denial organization EIKE , which was unsuccessful after considerable criticism from external reviewers.

He has been retired since at least 2011.

Kirstein is said to be one of the founders of the climate denial organization EIKE . In 2011 he appeared as a speaker at an EIKE conference, where, according to the Süddeutscher Zeitung , he “misused his speaking time for pseudo-sociological gurgling” in a “difficult to bear” lecture. Accordingly, the climate debate, like Christianity, is shaped by apocalyptic thoughts. It is acted with fear and guilt and operated a sale of indulgences , in addition, the do- gooders would become a "substitute religion".

In 2017 he gave a lecture on the subject of “Politogenic Climate Change” at the anti-censorship coalition founded by the Swiss preacher and alleged sect leader Ivo Sasek , which is accused of spreading conspiracy theories .

In 2019 he signed a declaration that there is no climate emergency .

Also in 2019 he appeared as a speaker at the Berliner Kreis in the Union der Union, where, in addition to man-made global warming, he also denied the global warming effect of carbon dioxide , the existence of a natural greenhouse effect and atmospheric counter-radiation .

Positions

Kirstein denies the scientific state of research on man-made global warming . He claims that there is no atmospheric greenhouse effect from carbon dioxide and denies that current climate change is caused by humans. The warming after the Little Ice Age is natural, humans are only a "scapegoat". Also, there was no glacier melt caused by global warming ; in fact, the decline is natural. “Glaciers come and glaciers go”.

He accuses climate researchers like Michael E. Mann and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change ( IPCC) with "deliberate deception". Many climate researchers know very well that man-made climate change was invented, but they would deliberately tell the untruth out of self-interest in order to raise research funds. As a retiree, however, he himself is independent and can therefore speak freely. The man-made climate change is a fraud commissioned by politics. Politicians ordered studies to be used to deceive the public. It is both about being able to introduce new taxes and enforcing ideological concepts such as a great social transformation. These ideologies, which were also present in the CDU , served to transform society "into a society of craftsmen and peasants" analogous to feudal rule , in which "the feudals and below [...] the peasants" would have to pay the taxes. This plan, cherished by politicians, is designed for the long term, so that it is not noticed by the population.
