Werner Lechte

Werner Lechte (born September 15, 1944 in Recklinghausen ; † January 13, 2018 ) was a German church musician and university professor .

Lechte studied church music in Essen from 1963 to 1974 (A-exam). He completed his training by studying singing in Hamburg . From 1963 to 1977 he worked as a cantor in Essen-Rüttenscheid, Bottrop and Recklinghausen. In 1979 he moved to the St. Maximilian Church in Düsseldorf . Since 1989 he has taught singing and conducting at the Robert Schumann University in Düsseldorf . In 1996 he was appointed professor . From 1992 to 1995 Lechte was provisional director of the Essen Bach Choir .
