Werner Martin (born February 28, 1949 ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

The defender Werner Martin made his debut for Borussia Neunkirchen in the Bundesliga on November 25, 1967 , when he was substituted on in the 65th minute of the game against FC Schalke 04 . In this 1967/68 season he came to a total of 14 missions for the Saarlanders, but he could not prevent relegation to the Regionalliga Südwest . In the meantime, Martin was even in the starting line-up of Borussia from matchday 18 to 29. After relegation, he stayed with Borussia for five more years. In 1973 he moved to SV Röchling Völklingen , with whom he qualified for the 2nd Bundesliga South . In the three second division years he was a regular at Völklingen and completed 97 games (11 goals) for Röchling. Then he also played in the 2nd League South for one season at VfR 1910 Bürstadt (34 games / 4 goals). After his old club Borussia Neunkirchen returned to the second division for the 1978/79 season , Martin played another season for Borussia. From the eleventh game day regular player he came again to 27 games (3 goals) and experienced immediate relegation.

In total, Martin made 14 games (0 goals) in the Bundesliga and 158 games (18 goals) in the 2nd Bundesliga South.
