Werner Meister (born October 31, 1889 in Rüegsau ; † September 18, 1969 in Sumiswald , resident in Sumiswald) was a Swiss politician (BGB) .

Life

Werner Meister was born on October 31, 1889 in Rüegsau as the son of Jakob Meister and Karoline Rosina, née Zollinger. At a young age, Meister took over the commercial management of the family company Meister & Cie. AG , a string and hose weaving factory. He was married to Alice Lina Julie, the daughter of the entrepreneur and politician Jules Manigley. Werner Meister died on September 18, 1969, just before the age of 80 in Sumiswald.

Political career

Werner Meister served as mayor of Rüegsau. He also represented the BGB from 1929 to 1946 in the Bernese Grand Council . In addition, he took a seat on the National Council from 1946 to 1959 . He was also a member of the executive committee of the Bernese cantonal party between 1946 and 1953 as the second vice-president . His commitment was to social policy , especially the AHV .
