Werner Miller

Werner Miller (born December 4, 1892 in Biberist , † September 27, 1959 in Buchegg ) was a Swiss painter.

Life

His father Oscar Miller was a paper manufacturer and art collector in Biberist. Werner Miller got to know many artists personally at home. After graduating from high school and training in Paris, he studied with Ferdinand Hodler , Giovanni Giacometti and Cuno Amiet .

One of his works with the highest level of awareness is the picture Gstaad of tourist advertising painting in the counter hall of the Basel train station . Fritz Zbinden , Hans Berger , Hans Jauslin and Ernst Morgenthaler were among his artist friends . He also worked as an occasional writer and singer.

Posthumously, exhibitions took place in Fritz Zbinden's studio on Horgerberg and in Schlösschen Bleichenberg in Biberist. some of his works are u. a. also in the permanent collection of the Bleichenberg castle. The tiled stove in his former home in Buchegg is also a remarkable object.
