The Werner Mountains are a group of mountains not far from the Lassiter Coast in the east of the Palmerland on the Antarctic Peninsula . The mountains rise immediately west-southwest of New Bedford Inlet and between the Meinardus and Bryan glaciers .
They were discovered and photographed from the air during the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939–1941). The United States Geological Survey mapped them based on their own measurements and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1961 to 1967. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named them after the German geologist and mineralogist Abraham Gottlob Werner (1750-1819).
