Werner Sarges

Werner Sarges (born January 18, 1941 in Siegen ) is a German psychologist and business economist , emeritus university professor and scientist in the field of management diagnostics .

Life

Werner Sarges studied psychology and business administration (Dipl.-Psych., Dipl.-Kfm.) At the Universities of Marburg and Hamburg from 1962 to 1970 . From 1971 to 1973 he was a trainee and junior manager in a multinational group in the consumer goods industry. In 1974 he received his doctorate (Dr. phil.) At the University of Hamburg and in 1977 he was appointed professor for quantitative methods at the Helmut Schmidt University in Hamburg (Univ.-Prof.), Which he held until his retirement in 2006. His main research interests are still in the areas of management diagnostics and organizational psychology .

Since the first publication of his management diagnostics manual in 1990, this term he created has spread rapidly in science and practice; What this means is the occupational aptitude diagnostics for higher and highly qualified functionaries (managers, professionals, etc.).

In 1984 he founded the original "Institute for Management Diagnostics" in Barnitz (near Hamburg) and has been the director and senior consultant there ever since. In addition to advising companies and other organizations, the institute focuses on research, development and evaluation of instruments and processes in the field of management diagnostics. The development dealt primarily with assessment center and interview concepts, test constructions, 360-degree feedback and competence models .

Since 1994 he has been the editor of the book series Psychology for Personnel Management , which he founded and is published by Hogrefe Verlag (Göttingen) , which now comprises 27 volumes. In addition, from 2001 to 2016, together with Heinz Schuler , Martin Kleinmann and Rüdiger Hossiep, he was the founder and editor of the book series Praxis der Personalpsychologie - Human Resource Management compact , which has also been published by Hogrefe since 2002 and now has 38 volumes.

Sarges is a member of the German Society for Psychology (DGPs), the Professional Association of German Psychologists (BDP), an honorary member of the Bochum Business Psychologists (BOWIP) and a member of the Wirtschaftswoche Club.
