Werner Sarstedt

Werner Sarstedt (born October 15, 1909 in Hanover ; † May 4, 1985 ) was a German judge and professor of criminal procedure law .

Life

The merchant's son Werner Sarstedt studied law at the Universities of Freiburg im Breisgau , Munich , Bonn , Berlin and Göttingen . In 1939 he became a district judge in Lüneburg. During the Second World War he did military service in Italy and became a prisoner of war. In February 1947 he became a higher regional judge in Celle, 1951 judge at the Federal Court of Justice (BGH) and 1956 chairman of the 5th criminal senate . He edited a total of four editions of the standard work on criminal law revision founded by Kurt Gage , The Revision in Criminal Matters , most recently together with Rainer Hamm ( Sarstedt / Hamm ).
