Rainer Hamm

Rainer Hamm (born February 24, 1943 in Altenglan ) is a German criminal defense attorney and criminal law professor .

Life

1964-1968 Hamm studied law at the University of Saarland , at the Free University of Berlin and at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . He received his doctorate in 1972 in Berlin with the thesis "The legal judge and the rejection because of concern of bias " with Ernst Heinitz . From 1972 to 1973 he was in the office of the Bonn Lawyers Redeker, Dahs, Nice and Sellner from 1973 to 1979 with the Frankfurt criminal lawyer Erich Schmidt-Leichner operates.

In 1979 he founded his own law firm with Werner Sarstedt , the former President of the Senate of the 5th Criminal Senate of the Federal Court of Justice , which has since grown to eight lawyers and is active exclusively in the field of criminal law - in particular commercial and tax criminal law.

Before and since the founding of his own law firm, Hamm has acted as defense counsel in many criminal proceedings , including in the proceedings relating to the crash of Lufthansa flight 540 , in the ALKEM proceedings , in the EM-TV proceedings and in the Mannesmann process . In addition, as the author of a standard work on criminal revision, he is also often active as a defense counsel in the revision body.

Since 1991 he has been honorary professor for criminal procedural law at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . In addition to his work as a lawyer, Hamm has written a large number of articles, notes and book publications . Since 1987 he has also been co- editor of the Neue Juristische Wochenschrift .

From 1996 to June 30, 1999, Hamm was the Hessian data protection officer in addition to being a lawyer . Hamm is a member and speaker of the German Criminal Defense Association. V. In the German Lawyers' Association he is a member of the Criminal Law Committee. He has also appeared repeatedly as an expert on the legal committee of the German Bundestag .

Hamm is married to the lawyer Regina Michalke and has two sons.
