Werner Seibt (soccer player)

Werner Seibt (born October 28, 1945 ) is a former German football player. In Neubrandenburg and Babelsberg he played second division football in the 1960s and 1970s.

Athletic career

Werner Seibt played in the company sports club (BSG) Motor Babelsberg until 1966 , most recently with the 2nd team in the third-class Potsdam district league . In November 1966 Seibt became a soldier in the National People's Army for three years , but during this time he was able to continue playing football with the army sports association ASG Vorwärts Neubrandenburg . The ASG was represented in the second-rate GDR league , and Seibt was called up in 16 league games as a striker in the 1966/67 season, in which he scored six goals. In the following two seasons he was used in the 60 played GDR league games in 33 matches (1967/68 18, 1968/69 15), with only one goal scoring in 1968/69.

After his discharge from military service, Seibt returned to BSG Motor Babelsberg. This played 1969/70 in the district league, only in 1971 she returned as district runner-up in the GDR league. But she did not manage to stay up in 1971/72 and was relegated back to the district league. In the relegation season, Seibt had played 21 of the 22 league games and was BSG Motor's top scorer with twelve goals. With Seibt, Babelsberg became district champion in 1973 and rose again to the GDR league. In the following three GDR league seasons, Seibt was a regular at BSG Motor, played 57 of the 66 point games and was once again the team's top scorer with ten goals twice and six once.

Werner Seibt ended his career as a GDR league player in 1976 at the age of 31. In seven GDR league seasons he made 127 league appearances, scored 45 goals and was top scorer four times.
