Werner Weiß (table tennis player)

Werner Weiß (* July 2, 1931 ; † around 1998) was a German table tennis player who took part in two world championships.

Werner Weiß played for the TTC Beckingen club as early as the 1950s and until the end of his life . He won a title four times at the Saarland Championships, in 1953 and 1954 in singles, in 1953 in mixed with Helga Herresthal and in 1955 in doubles with Ossi Michel .

At the world championships in 1954 and 1955 , Saarland appeared as an independent association. Here white was nominated for Saarland, but did not come close to a medal either in the individual or with the men's team.

At the 1954 World Cup in Wembley he lost after two rounds without a fight against Ladislav Štípek (ČSSR). The doubles with Willi Trautmann failed in the first round to the Americans William Gunn / Irwin Miller. In the mixed competition, Weiß did not compete, with the Saarland team he came in 27th.

At the 1955 World Cup in Utrecht he lost to former three-time world champion Richard Bergmann (England). In doubles with Willi Trautmann, he eliminated the Dutch Henry Grijzenhout / Piet Weel, after which Ivan Andreadis / Ladislav Štípek (ČSSR) were too strong. This time, White also started in mixed with Helga Herresthal , but was eliminated in the first round against John Somael Pauline / Robinson (USA). The Saarland team came in 25th.
