Djamel Abdoun ( Arabic جمال عبدون, DMG Ǧamāl ʿAbdūn ; * February 14, 1986 in Montreuil ) is a French- born former Algerian soccer player who was last under contract with Veria FC in 2016 .

Career

society

Djamel Abdoun started his career in the Paris Saint-Germain youth team in 2002 , but was released at the end of the season. He then moved to AC Ajaccio , where he was taken over to the professional team a year later. From 2004 to 2008 he played twelve games there and scored two goals.

In January 2007 he was awarded for six months at the English top club Manchester City . However, he only played one game on January 28 in the 3-1 win over Southampton FC in the FA Cup , when he came on in the 89th minute. After the loan ended, both sides decided against a transfer and so Abdoun returned to Ajaccio . In the 2007/08 season he was awarded to the league competitor CS Sedan . There he was able to get hold of a regular place and played 33 games in which he scored five goals. But this time, too, the decision was made not to buy it. After his contract with Ajaccio expired, he moved to FC Nantes in 2008 . There he completed his first league game on August 9 in a 1: 2 defeat at AJ Auxerre . The midfielder had to wait until February 7, 2009 for his first goal, when he scored the only goal of his team in the 4-1 home defeat to Paris Saint-Germain . After 49 games and three goals in the dress of FC Nantes, he moved to the Greek club AO Kavala on August 24, 2010 , where he signed a three-year contract. The parties have agreed not to disclose the transfer fee. Just five days later, he played his first game for Kavala in a 1-0 home defeat by Aris Thessaloniki .

In the summer of 2011 Djamel Abdoun moved to the Greek record champions Olympiacos Piraeus . This was by far his most successful station, he was twice Greek champion and cup winner. After 50 league games and nine goals scored, he moved to Nottingham Forest for about £ 1.55million . For the second half of the 2014/15 season he was loaned to the Belgian club Sporting Lokeren and sold to Veria FC in the summer . He has been without a club since July 20, 2016.

National team

At international level, Abdoun still played for France in the U-18 to U-21 age categories and won the U-19 European Football Championship in 2005 and the Toulon tournament in 2007 . In September 2009 he accepted an invitation to a training camp for the Algerian national team for the first time . In the subsequent World Cup qualifier against Rwanda, he was not part of the squad. He was called up by national coach Rabah Saâdane to the squad for the 2010 African Cup in Angola and made his debut in the last group game in a 0-0 draw against the hosts, when he came on for Karim Matmour shortly before the end of the game . Abdoun also played as a substitute in the other three tournament games in Algeria.

Six months later, Abdoun was also part of the Algerian squad for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Although Abdoun was nominated for the 2013 African Cup of Nations, he did not take part in the tournament due to an injury.
