Werner Wirth (communication scientist)

Werner Wirth (* 1959 in Munich ) is a German communication scientist .

Life

In 1984 Wirth began studying communication science , psychology , statistics , political science and sociology at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , from which he graduated in 1989 with a master's degree . He then worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Communication Studies at the University of Munich, where he received his doctorate in 1994 . From 1995 to 1999 he worked as a research assistant at the Institute of Communication and Media Studies at the University of Leipzig and from 1999 to 2002 at the Institute of Journalism and Communication Research of the University of Music and Theater in Hanover . In 2002/2003 Wirth held a professorship for online communication and multimedia at the Institute for Communication Science at the University of Munich. Since September 2003 he has been a full professor for empirical communication studies and media research at the Institute for Mass Communication and Media Research (IPMZ) at the University of Zurich .
