Werner Ziemann

Werner Ziemann (* 1909 ; † 1971 ) was a German trade unionist and from 1961 to 1965 chairman of the trade union Trade, Banks and Insurance HBV (today ver.di).

Werner Ziemann began his full-time activity in the trade union movement in July 1946. After a brief activity as DGB employee secretary in Lower Saxony and managing director of the HBV local administration in Göttingen , he took over the position of HBV regional manager in Lower Saxony in April 1949. In 1951 he was elected to the executive board of the trade union trade, banks and insurance HBV. In 1961, the delegates of the 5th Trade Union Congress elect him as 1st chairman; After a four-year term in office, he resigned in 1965.
