Margret Mönig-Raane (born June 3, 1948 in Schmallenberg ) is a German trade unionist . She was national chairwoman of the trade union for trade, banks and insurance companies and then deputy chairwoman of the United Services Union as well as head of the ver.di federal trade department, vice-president of the international trade union umbrella organization UNI Global Union and chairwoman of the Association of Substitute Funds (VdAK).

Life

Mönig-Raane attended elementary school and the advanced high school in Schmallenberg. After completing secondary school, from 1966 to 1969 he attended a women's technical school and a technical school for educators in Brilon . From 1968 to 1970 she worked as an educator. She then studied at the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences until 1973 .

After graduating as a social worker , she worked for the DGB vocational training center in Frankfurt and Düsseldorf until 1980 . Mönig-Raane was a clerk at the main board of the HBV until 1986 and then union secretary of the HBV regional management in North Rhine-Westphalia. After getting married in 1987, she had a child. From 1987 to 1992 she was a member of the executive board of the HBV union. After the resignation of the HBV chairman Lorenz Schwegler in October 1993, she took over the office of the acting chairman as deputy.

In January 1995 Mönig-Raane was elected chairman of the trade union trade, banking and insurance (HBV) . Until 2001 she was the chairwoman of the trade union trade, banks and insurance companies, which joined forces with ÖTV , DPG , IG Medien and DAG to form the ver.di union. She was then elected vice-chairman of the United Services Union in March 2001. The election as vice-president of Union Network International followed in August 2001 and four months later the election as association chairman of the VdAK. In June 2005 she was elected as ver.di federal department head trade. For reasons of age, Mönig-Raane did not run for office again at the 3rd Federal Congress of the United Services Union in September 2011 in Leipzig.
