The Weser nature reserve is located in the Roetgen area on the Belgian border. The river flows into the most important drinking water barrier in Belgium, the Weser dam near Eupen. As is typical for the water of the moors of the High Fens , foam can also be found on the water on the Weser.
Protection purpose
The habitats for many plants, fungi and animals in North Rhine-Westphalia that are endangered according to the Red List are to be protected .
The objectives are the preservation and development of the following natural habitats according to Annex I of the Habitats Directive .
These biotope types to be protected can be found in this area: springs, wet and humid grassland, near-natural and undeveloped stream sections, poor meadows .
