The West Pearl Tower is a 339 meter high television tower in Chengdu, China, making it the fourth tallest in the People's Republic of China . The base of the tower shaft, which extends below the surface of the earth, consists of a supporting structure with four pillars. Construction work on the West Pearl Tower originally began in 1992, but had to be interrupted until 1998 due to financial problems.
