West Silvertown (DLR)
West Silvertown is a Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station in Newham, London . It is located in the Travelcard tariff zone 3 on North Woolwich Road in the Silvertown district .
The station is located, following the typical DLR design, elevated on a viaduct and can be reached from the street via stairs and elevators. To the north of the station, at the Royal Victoria Dock , the new residential area Britannia Village was built at the beginning of the 21st century . The area south of the station, along the Thames , is still partly characterized by brownfield sites . Another residential area called Peruvian Wharf with over 1,500 apartments is to be built around the existing Lyle Park .
Opened the station on 2 December 2005, together with the branch route between Canning Town and King George V . An additional station called Thames Wharf is planned northwest of West Silvertown, but the possible start of construction depends on the planning status of further urban development projects .
