Westphalian beef sausage

Westphalian beef sausage is a grützwurst made from beef , beef fat , vegetables , pearl barley or grits and butter . The Westphalian specialty is served hot, either heated in water or fried and eaten with bread , boiled potatoes or the like. A very similar dish from the Calenberger Land near Hanover is known as Calenberger Pfannenschlag or Knipp , but it can also be made with pork .
