The Wetterauische Gesellschaft für der Naturkunde zu Hanau 1808 eV is a natural research society . It is Hesse's oldest registered association.

history

On July 5, 1808, the chamber assessor Karl Caesar von Leonhard and the professor of chemistry and natural history Johann Heinrich Kopp , both from Hanau , drafted the plan devised by the latter for a wetterauischen natural research society, which other naturalists, including Johann Heinrich Cassebeer , agreed. It was founded on August 10, 1808 in Hanau.
