Weather saint is popularly called a Christian saint who is invoked to ask for favorable weather conditions for agriculture or to avert famine. Examples are the hll. Anna (patron saint against thunderstorms), Barbara , Christophorus , Donatus , Georg , the "weathermen" Johannes and Paulus , on whose feast day there were hail processions or Peter . The latter stands as the cultural and historical successor of the Roman weather god Janus .

The Observances some saints were in Bauer year as " Lostage considered" to determine the weather for the following days and weeks, the feast of the Chair of Peter on 22 February, called Eisheiligen mid-May, the feast of St. Medard on June 8, of St. John on June 24, the sleepyhead on June 27, the St. Michael on September 29 and the Hubertustag on November 3, in addition also the feast of Candlemas on February 2, and Christmas Day .
