The Wheeling Creek is a right tributary of the Ohio River in the eastern US state of Ohio .
It drains into the Gulf of Mexico via the Ohio River and Mississippi River . The Wheeling Creek is part of the river system of the Mississippi River and drains an area of 280 square kilometers. The river rises 1 km east of the town of Flushing in Belmont County , then flows generally in an easterly direction to its confluence at Bridgeport in the Ohio River, which forms the border with the US state West Virginia here. A few kilometers downstream, the Wheeling Creek of the same name from West Virginia flows into the Ohio from the opposite side.
According to the Geographic Names Information System , the river was also referred to as Indian Wheeling Creek, Scalp Creek, Spithead Creek and similar spellings in its settlement history.
