White Boys Blue

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

White Boys Blue are a former Australian "art avant-garde performance duo". The only integral part of their art is the integration of a DJ set .

Band history

The two members "White Boy One" and "White Boy Two" met in 1975 while studying at the "Australian Institute of Architects" in North Queensland . In 1979 her first performance took place under the name "White Boys Blue". Similar to the Californian avant-garde band " The Residents ", they always kept their identities secret. In 1983 the two groups worked together; on the residents' live album “The Mole Show Live at The Roxy”, the WBB were involved in the title song with a live scratch solo.

1989 WBB contributed the music for the film " Major League ". The film's poster quoted the band's trademark, the so-called "White Boy Head", a baseball with a mohawk and RB glasses. In 1992 White Boys Blue were invited by Jan Hoet to Documenta IX in Kassel . The group performed a cacophonic performance of Lou Reed's “Metal Machine Music” using 17 turntables connected in series.

Withdrawal from the public

After their farewell appearance in 1994 at the Ko´olau Center on Oʻahu / Hawaii , White Boy One and White Boy Two declared their careers “shut down” (WBO: “We are silent!”). In 1994, Drummond and Carter recorded the documentary “Watch The K Foundation Burn a Million Quid ”in which they burned a million pound sterling in £ 50 notes.
