Wichard von Alvensleben (Go player)

Wichard von Alvensleben (born July 11, 1937 in Schlochau ; † May 2, 2016 in Hanover ) was a German lawyer, go - and chess player and problem chess composer from Hanover.

He was German Go Champion five times in 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964 and 1974 and European Champion from 1961 to 1964. In 1963 he represented Germany at the amateur world championships in Japan and reached China with the German team behind the Asian teams. Japan and Korea ranked 4th.

His highest rank was the 5th Dan (5d).

In the 1970s he turned primarily to chess , including problem chess . Until the nineties he played actively in chess clubs in Göttingen and Bad Salzdetfurth . He primarily composed auxiliary mat tasks .

Wichard von Alvensleben was the nephew of the officer of the same name, Wichard von Alvensleben , son of Udo von Alvensleben and came from the von Alvensleben family .
