Climbing opportunities

Nowadays, the peaks of the Widderalpstöck are mainly climbed by climbers via the south walls. The development took place relatively late, as the climbing scene concentrated for a long time on the nearby Kreuzberge . Classic routes were crossing all peaks and the Alte Südplättli ( 3b , 7 SL ), which was first climbed in 1945 , to the Fähnligipfel, which is now a very popular route for beginners. The northern faces of the Alps were first climbed in the 1950s and 1960s. The limestone plates in the south walls were developed in the 1980s and 1990s, the climbing guide lists a total of 27 routes (as of 2001), mainly of medium difficulty. The starting point for an ascent is either the Bollenwees mountain inn on Lake Fälensee ( 1470  m above sea level ) or the Hundsteinhütte .
