The Wielka Sowa (German High Owl ) is at 1015 m the highest elevation of the Owl Mountains ( Góry Sowie ), a mountain range of the Silesian Central Sudetes in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in south-west Poland . It is considered to be one of the best viewpoints in the Sudetes .
Location and surroundings
It towers over the northeast lying Silesian Plain and the southwest running Valley of the Stones directly south of the spa town Walim (Wüstewaltersdorf) and southwest of Dzierżoniów (Reichenbach i. Eulengebirge) .
On its narrow summit, next to a telecommunications mast, stands the Bismarck Tower (today's name: observation tower on the Hohe Eule ), a structure made of granite and reinforced concrete that has been extensively renovated in recent years.
Paths to the summit
- A red marked route leads over the mountain , which runs along the entire ridge of the Owl Mountains and is part of the European long-distance hiking trail E3 .
