Wii Party U ( Jap. WiiパーティWi Pati Yū ) is a company video game by Nintendo for the Wii U . The game was announced on Nintendo Direct in January 2013 and later presented at E3 2013, and again at a Nintendo Direct conference in October 2013. Wii Party U is the sequel to the 2010 video game Wii Party .

Gameplay

Wii Party U is a multiplayer - video game , consisting of a classic board game and mini-games , like Mario Party . There are over 80 mini-games playable in the game. The Wii U gamepad can be used for multiplayer mode. The game partly contains variations of the mini-games from Wii Party , which were however designed for the Wii U.

reception

With a total of 65/100 at criticism - aggregator Metacritic received Wii Party U mixed to positive reviews.

Sales

In Japan , the game was very popular in the first week after its release, with 70,000 copies sold and an additional 38,000 Wii U consoles sold. During the holiday season, sales hit the top of the Japanese charts. As of December 31, 2013, over 518,000 copies were sold in Japan alone.
