Wil van Beveren
Wil van Beveren (actually Wijnand van Beveren; born December 28, 1911 in Haarlem ; † October 5, 2003 in Emmen ) was a Dutch athlete and sports journalist.
Van Beveren was one of the strongest sprinters in the Netherlands in the 1930s . He celebrated the greatest success of his career in 1936 at the Olympic Games in Berlin , where he was sixth in the 200 m . Over 100 m he reached the semifinals, and in the 4 x 100 meter relay he was disqualified in the final with the Dutch team.
At the European Athletics Championships in Paris in 1938 , he was fourth over 100 m . In the final of the 4 x 100 meter relay , he did not reach the goal with the Dutch team.
After finishing his active career, he became a sports journalist. First he wrote for Sport & Sportwereld and from 1958 for the Emmer Courant.
Two of his sons became famous football players. The younger one, Jan van Beveren , made it into the Dutch national football team .
