Wilen SZ is a district of the municipality of Freienbach in the Swiss canton of Schwyz . Wilen is built together with Wollerau and has its postcode, but politically it belongs to the municipality of Freienbach. Mainly because of the proximity to Zurich and the low taxes, the number of inhabitants and the price of land have doubled in the last 25 years.
Wilen is the stop of the SOB line Arth-Goldau - Pfäffikon SZ - Rapperswil SG and is on the Pfäffikon SZ - Saturdayern bus line . The place has a primary school and a kindergarten. Wilen is a purely residential area and has little business and no industry. It is made up of the residential quarters Eulen, Fällmis and Breiten. Financier Martin Ebner's BZ Bank is located in Wilen .
The Leutschen wine-growing region lies between Wilen and Freienbach. Leutschner wine is made from these grapes. Around 8 hectares of the Leutschen vineyard belongs to Einsiedeln Monastery , which presses the wine in its own monastery cellar in Einsiedeln. The Leutschenhaus, the baroque manor house in the middle of the vines, also belongs to the monastery. It has housed a dining restaurant since 2002. A part of the vineyard, around 6 hectares, belongs to the brothers Kümin Weinbau und Weinhandel AG based in Freienbach. A vine educational trail leads through the wine region.
