Wilfrid Edward Francis Jackson
Sir Wilfrid Edward Francis Jackson ( 1883 - March 28, 1971 ) was a British administrator in colonies.
Political offices
Jackson was governor of Mauritius from August 30, 1930 to June 7, 1937 . Knighted as Knight Commander of the Order of St Michael and St George in 1931 . During his tenure in 1933, the constitution was amended and Dr. Maurice Curé founded the Labor Party as the first political party in February 1936 . During longer official absences, he was repeatedly represented by the colonial secretary Edward Walter Evans (1890–1985). He was then from November 19, 1937 to November 7, 1941 Governor of British Guiana and most recently from June 19, 1941 to April 28, 1945 of Tanganyika . In 1943 he was raised to the Knight Grand Cross of the Order of St Michael and St George.
