Wilfried Bode

Wilfried Bode (born December 13, 1929 in Hanover ; † September 25, 2012 in Osterwald ) was a German water polo player and two-time Olympic participant.

Life

Bode was eliminated in the preliminary round at the Summer Olympics in Helsinki in 1952 , but at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne he won sixth place with the German water polo team. Bode played a total of 72 national games. He took part in the 1954 European Water Polo Championships in Turin (6th place) and in Budapest (7th place) in 1958 , was a German Cup winner in 1948 and swam two German relay records.

After a traffic accident he had to give up his career as a water polo player at SV Wasserfreunde 1898 Hannover . At the disabled sports club in Hanover, he was once again German champion. Bode was married to the swimmer Elisabeth Rechlin .
