Hans Poppel

Hans Poppel (* 1942 in Kempten ) is a German illustrator , jazz pianist and set designer .

Live and act

Poppel attended schools in Kempten and Munich. He completed his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich . He then worked as a set assistant at the Bavarian State Opera and for several years in theaters in German cities as a set and costume designer. Since the mid-1970s, he has mainly worked as a freelance illustrator and book designer. a. with authors such as Eveline Hasler , Dorothée Kreusch-Jacob and Aliana Brodmann E. von Richthofen . He also worked as a caricaturist, editor and screenwriter in the film and radio play area.

From the 1970s Poppel was also active as a jazz pianist; he played u. a. with Cornelius Claudio Kreusch , Nate McBride , Curt Newton , Joe Morris and Ken Vandermark . With G. Pechet Reber and Thomas Dürst he formed the European Hiding Trio (album Nothing to Hide , Unit Records 2000).
