Wilfried Gerhard

Wilfried Gerhard (* 1940 in Bonn ) is a German Protestant theologian and social scientist .

Gerhard studied Protestant theology and social sciences from 1960 to 1966 . He finished his studies with the first and second theological exams in Düsseldorf. In 1975, he was at René King at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Cologne with the social science dissertation Troeltsch as a sociologist to Dr. phil. in Cologne.

He was u. a. Teacher at vocational schools in Bonn, research assistant at the Pedagogical University of Rhineland , Department Bonn and pastor in the Protestant parish of Hennef an der Sieg .

In 1976 he became a lecturer in the social sciences department of the Bundeswehr Leadership Academy (FüAkBw) in Hamburg; From 1999 until his retirement, the Scientific Director was head of the department. From 1998 he also worked as a project director at the Social Science Institute of the Bundeswehr (SOWI) in Strausberg. Gerhard published several articles as SOWI working papers . He also worked as a visiting professor at the Naval War College (NWC) in Newport, Rhode Island / USA (1990), at the National Defense University (NDU) in Washington, DC / USA (1997) and the Estonian National Defense College (ENDS) in Tartu / Estonia. At the ENDC he is a member of the Editorial Board and the Editorial Council.

Gerhard was Deputy President of the Scientific Forum for International Security in Hamburg.
