Wilfried Mühlchen (born November 7, 1941 in Halle (Saale) ) is a former football player. From 1961 to 1964 he played for SC Chemie Halle in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football .

Athletic career

Wilfried Mühlchen played at SC Chemie Halle since 1955 and was employed in the SC Chemie's league reserve from 1961. On the 4th day of the league season 1961/62, in which 39 point games had to be played due to the change from the calendar year rhythm to the summer-spring season, Mühlchen came as a defender in the match between SC Chemie and SC Einheit Dresden (2-4) for his first league assignment. There followed two more missions on the 12th and 13th matchday, in which he was called up as a striker and was successful with two or one goal as a goal scorer. During the summer break, Mühlchen suffered a broken leg, and he was no longer used in the major league during the season. In the two seasons 1962/63 and 1963/64 Mühlchen belonged to the upper division squad of SC Chemie, but was only called up once as a striker. In the 1962/63 season he came again to a goal.

In November 1964 Mühlchen became a soldier in the National People's Army , but was able to continue playing football in the second-rate GDR league with the Army Sports Association (ASG) Vorwärts Cottbus . By the end of the 1964/65 season he played 18 league games and was ASG top scorer with eight goals together with his teammate Peter Rößler . Until 1967 Mühlchen was a regular at Vorwärts Cottbus, of the 60 league games in both seasons, he played 55 games and scored six and eight goals respectively. In the second half of the 1967/68 season he completed all 15 point games (without goals) and was then dismissed from the army.

Then Mühlchen joined the third-rate district division BSG Chemie Buna Schkopau . In 1970 he became district champion with the company sports association , but his team failed in the promotion round to the GDR league. In 1971, the Schkopauer repeated their title and made the rise. At the beginning of the GDR league season 1971/72 Mühlchen was 29 years old. He was only used twice in the 20 league games that have now been played. The BSG Chemie Buna had to relegate to the district league again after a year, and when they returned to the GDR league in 1974, Wilfried Mühlchen had already ended his career as a competitive athlete. In his seven seasons in GDR-wide football, he had played five league games in which he had scored four goals. In the GDR league, he was called up in 90 games and scored 22 goals.
