Wilfried Wagner (born December 29, 1942 in Vienna ) is a German lawyer and former Vice President of the Federal Fiscal Court , the highest German court in tax and customs matters.

life and work

Wilfried Wagner studied law at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . In 1971 he entered the service of the financial administration of the Free State of Bavaria and was seconded to the Federal Fiscal Court as a research assistant from November 1975 to September 1979 . After the secondment, Wagner became a judge at the Munich Finance Court . In April 1985 he became a judge at the Federal Fiscal Court. Wilfried Wagner belonged to the Fifth Senate of the Federal Fiscal Court, which was responsible for sales tax issues. From 1990 to 1996 he was the court's press officer and was responsible for public relations. In December 1999 he became chairman of the V Senate and in June 2005 he became vice-president of the court. In addition to these activities at the court, Wagner was a member of the Presidium and Presidential Council of the Federal Court for several years . He retired in December 2007.

In addition to his judicial work, he also dealt scientifically with sales tax, in particular its relationship to European law . He taught at the Universities of Konstanz and Augsburg and was the editor of a legal commentary on sales tax law. From 2003, Wilfried Wagner was the editor of the BFH / NV decision collection.
