The Wilhelm Ernst War Cross was donated on June 10, 1915 by Grand Duke Wilhelm Ernst of Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach in addition to the House Order of the White Falcon with Crossed Swords.

The medal consists of a silver , white enameled cross , on whose gold medallion is the white falcon whose wings protrude beyond it. A green laurel wreath is placed over the side bar and swords are crossed in the middle .
