Wilhelm Raabe Literature Prize

The Wilhelm Raabe Literature Prize was founded in 2000 by the city of Braunschweig and DeutschlandRadio . It is one of the "most respected literary awards in Germany". With the award, both partners want to honor " Wilhelm Raabe's life 's work and his outstanding intellectual achievement of his time". The Deutschlandradio program Deutschlandfunk has sponsored the award since 2008 . The literature editor of Deutschlandradios, Hubert Winkels , is chairman of the jury.

“With the award of this prize, the city of Braunschweig and Deutschlandradio / Deutschlandfunk each year honor a narrative work written in German. The award is intended to honor the literary works [of the award winner] published up to the time of the award ceremony. "The award was initially awarded every two years and was endowed with 25,000 euros. It has been awarded annually since 2010 and has been endowed with 30,000 euros ever since.

With this award, the donors tie in with the city's Wilhelm Raabe Prize, which was awarded from 1944 to 1990 .
