Wilhelm Adolf von Eys was the son of Johann Wilhelm von Eys († 1656) and Maria von Doenrath. In 1669 he joined the star guild, the union of the Aachen lay judges, and was accepted into the lay judges' chair in 1672. In addition, he was appointed governor in the county of Gronsveld near Maastricht for a longer period . As such he got into a legal dispute with the monastery in Noorbeek around 1681, which he lost. As a result, he had to spend half a year in a Brussels prison, pay the legal costs and resign as governor. Subsequently, between 1684 and 1717, as councilor of the city of Aachen, he belonged nine times to the "Great Council", which was responsible for general affairs and judged life and death, and between 1689 and 1729 eighteen times to the "Small Council", which participated the city and state sovereignty and formed the higher and appeal court. Finally, in 1690/91, 1692/93 and 1694/95, von Eys was elected mayor of the city of Aachen together with Peter Ludwig Bodden , the mayor from the ranks of the guilds.

In addition to his full-time duties, von Eys served as Christoffel in the royal county from 1691 , from 1709 the office of send alderman at the Aachen sending court and in 1716 became a member of the Sacramentary Brotherhood of St. Foillan .

Wilhelm Adolf von Eys died in Aachen in September 1729 and was transferred and buried on September 27, 1729 on the grounds of Zweibrüggen Castle , his wife's inheritance. He was married to Florentina Catharina von Voss, daughter of Johann Wilhelm von Voss, Herr auf Brunssum, and Anna Florentina von Mirbach zu Zweibrüggen; the couple had eight children.

Von Eys inherited the Vaalsbroek Castle from his father, but left it largely to decay, so that it had to be foreclosed by his son in 1733. He also owned the Tersilien estate near Henri-Chapelle and through his wife inherited the Zweibrüggen Castle, which remained in the family until 1786. He also had a number of high-quality properties in the area of ​​the Königstorgrafschaft Aachen.

A memorial stone in the lintel of the Aachen Long Tower commemorates von Eys , on which the names of the mayors and builders from 1690 are engraved with coats of arms and inscriptions and which was restored and significantly expanded during his time in office.
