Wilhelm August Freiherr von Plessen (born November 23, 1808 at Engelberg Castle near Schorndorf , † July 17, 1887 in Stuttgart ) was Württemberg's Minister of State (addressed as excellence ). He was Minister of Justice in the Linden Ministry .

Plessen is the name of a noble Mecklenburg-Holstein noble family. Wilhelm August von Plessen was the son of the Württemberg Chamberlain and District Chief Forester Helmuth Wilhelm Friedrich Albrecht Freiherr von Plessen (* July 30, 1778 - December 3, 1856) and Wilhelmine Christiane von Plessen, née. Freiin von Palm (born January 18, 1783, † September 12, 1830).

Career

In November 1832, Plessen began his service as a court actuary in Biberach and was transferred to Reutlingen in May 1833 with the same function . While he was employed at the court in Ellwangen , he was promoted to senior judicial assistant there on November 5, 1835 . On January 28, 1841, Plessen became the office director in the Ministry of Justice with the title of senior judicial councilor and at the same time a full member of the penal college. On April 20, 1843, he was promoted to senior tribunal council and lecturing council at the Ministry of Justice. On July 2, 1850, King Wilhelm appointed him head of the Department of Justice, initially with the title of Councilor of State and since September 20, 1852 with the title of Minister . From July 6th to September 23rd, 1850, Plessen was also briefly head of the Department of Churches and Schools. Plessen retired on April 7, 1856 and was thus retired for over 31 years before he died in the summer of 1887.

Wilhelm von Plessen was awarded the Commentary Cross of the Order of the Württemberg Crown in 1850 , and in 1851 he received the Grand Cross of the Order of Frederick .
