Wilhelm Christian Hochstetter

Wilhelm Christian Hochstetter (born March 4, 1825 in Esslingen am Neckar , † September 23, 1881 in Stuttgart ) was a German botanist and university gardener and inspector of the Botanical Garden in Tübingen . Its official botanical author's abbreviation is " W. Hochst. "

Live and act

He was the son of Christian Ferdinand Friedrich Hochstetter . He wrote books on conifers and published on the giant Amazon water lily (Victoria regia), which he succeeded in propagating in Tübingen. Together with Henkel, he introduced the araucaria family .
